How to refer another flight instructor/ school on Skyfarer

Skyfarer is built to help students, pilots, and aircraft owners connect with the right aviation professionals. In some cases, an instructor or service provider may not be the right fit for a particular inquiry — whether due to availability, location, aircraft type, or certification needs.

When that happens, Skyfarer allows providers to refer another qualified professional on the platform, helping the client stay on track while keeping the interaction on Skyfarer.

This article explains how referrals work and what to expect.

Can I refer another instructor or professional if I’m not available?

Yes. If you receive an inquiry or booking request that you’re unable to accept, you may refer another instructor or aviation professional who is already listed on Skyfarer, as long as the request is not marked as private or restricted.

Referrals are optional, but they can be a helpful way to:

  • Support students and pilots who need timely assistance
  • Maintain professionalism when you’re unavailable
  • Strengthen the Skyfarer instructor and provider network

How do I refer someone else?

When responding to an inquiry or request that you’re declining, you’ll see an option to refer another Skyfarer provider.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Select the option to refer another instructor or service provider
  2. Choose a Skyfarer profile that you believe is a good fit
  3. Add a short message explaining why you’re making the referral

You may refer one provider per request.

You cannot refer someone if:

  • They are not listed on Skyfarer
  • They have already responded to the same request
  • They have already been referred by another provider
  • The request is marked as private or invitation-only

What happens after I make a referral?

Once a referral is submitted:

  • The client will be notified that another provider was recommended
  • The referred provider will receive the inquiry as a referral
  • The client will be able to see that the referral came from you

From there, the referred provider can choose to accept or decline the opportunity like any other request.

What does it mean if I receive a referral?

If you receive a referral, it means another Skyfarer provider believed you might be a good fit for a client’s needs but was unable to assist themselves.

You’re free to:

  • Review the request
  • Ask clarifying questions
  • Accept or decline the opportunity

Receiving referrals can be a positive signal within the Skyfarer community and helps connect clients with the right expertise.

Do I have to personally know the provider I refer?

No. You may refer:

  • Someone you know personally
  • Or another Skyfarer-listed provider whose experience, certifications, location, or availability appear to match the request

The key expectation is professional judgment and good faith.

Are there rewards or incentives for referrals?

At this time, Skyfarer does not offer financial incentives for referrals.

Referrals are intended to:

  • Help clients find the right support
  • Encourage professional collaboration
  • Strengthen trust within the aviation community

Does a referral make me responsible for the outcome?

No. Referring another provider does not make you responsible for:

  • The quality of instruction or services provided
  • The outcome of training, services, or transactions
  • Any agreements between the client and the referred provider

Each provider on Skyfarer operates independently and is responsible for their own services, compliance, and client relationships.

Can I refer someone who is not on Skyfarer?

No. Referrals can only be made to providers who have an active Skyfarer listing. This helps ensure transparency, consistency, and platform support if issues arise.

What if a client is unhappy with the provider I referred?

A client’s experience with a referred provider does not impact your profile, ratings, or standing on Skyfarer.

Skyfarer encourages referrals made in good faith and understands that not every engagement will be the right fit.
