USPS package drop-off timing update (Feb 2026)

Starting in February 2026, USPS Post Offices will begin auditing packages more strictly for payment before accepting them. As part of this change, USPS representatives will be more diligent about confirming that postage payment has been fully processed at the time of drop-off.

If a package is handed to USPS too soon after purchasing a label, the payment may not have been fully processed yet. In some cases, this can prevent USPS from confirming payment at the time of drop-off.

To help avoid acceptance issues, we recommend waiting at least 60 minutes to drop off your packages. This allows enough time for payment information to fully process and be available to USPS.
